With a progress in trading career, you start to feel that the daily routine of markets analysis and trades review no longer carries as much excitement as it was at the time you started out. You can find yourself bored with your monotonous trading routine especially when there are very little movements in the markets. You want to feel productive and constantly look for trading-related things to do. And that feeling of boredom should not be overlooked as it may cause overtrading that may end up in losing money (the worst and most common scenario).

Here is how you can deal with your boredom.

  • Remind yourself that market is not a playground and you are not in trading for experiencing an excitement but for making money.
  • Understand that you do not always have to be in the market and it is OK if there isn't a trading opportunity.
  • Just be patient and wait instead of making force trades.
  • Think that boredom is actually not so bad. You just need to make a better use of time between trades. Take a break and put yourself in a peaceful state. Think about your trading objectives or educate yourself by reading more about trading.
